EGDI 2024: Analysis and Review of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Status in the 2024 E-Government Development Index
This report aims to analysis of the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) and the examination of Iran's position in this index prepared by researchers of Shakhes Think Tank The EGDI index, which evaluates the readiness, capacity, and progress of countries in utilizing e-government for public service delivery, has gained a significant position in Iran’s higher-level documents, including the Seventh Development Plan. In this study, by reviewing the latest assessment published by the United Nations in 2024, the components of the index, key players in Iran and worldwide, and Iran’s current status have been examined. Additionally, factors contributing to the decline in Iran’s score and ranking—such as a decrease in public e-government literacy, a drop in internet user rates, a decline in the gross enrollment rate in education, a reduction in the expected average years of schooling, and weaknesses in the Online Service Index (OSI)—have been identified, along with recommendations for improving the situation
